Rispetto alla versione in vinile ci sono 16 tracce in più sebbene, rispetto al vinile, la qualità audio sia inferiore. La fanzine sui VU "Fierce Pup" dice: "Il leggendario Searchin' for my Mainline è stato pubblicato in un box di 3 dischi. L'edizione in vinile, che include tutte tracce live dal '66 all'86, è da molto fuori catalogo. E' stato definitivo da molti IL bootleg definitivo sui VU. La sua ricomparsa in CD ha permesso ai fan di avere alcune delle versioni live più selvagge mai registrate, e alcune curiosità e rarità. Sebbene la tecnologia digitale abbia migliorato la qualità del vinile originale, ci sono comunque delle fonti di bassa qualità, quindi non vi aspettate miracoli. La maggiore capacità del CD ha permesso l'inclusione di molte più tracce che non apparivano sul vinile, ma c'è un'omissione: I'm Sticking With You di Moe and Jonathan. Dentro al box ci sono 3 jewel case che contengono 5 dischi divisi così: 1 e 2 So Blue; 3 e 4 Afterhours; 5 VU a Parigi. In generale è un buon box set che contiene tracce 'non-live' interessanti (ma niente di inedito) . Interessante, soprattutto, l'inclusione delle prove di Lou e John nel 1990 alla Fondazione Cartier. |

Note: Cofanetto di 3 CD in edizione limitata a sole 500 copie, una vera pandora di rarità, a cominciare dal primo Cd che contiene la primissima versione del disco "The Velvet Underground and Nico", finora assolutamente inedita; l'acetato originale è stato ritrovato solo l'anno scorso in una bancarella da un collezionista. Sebbene il sottotitolo reciti "Moe Tucker's acetate", non si ha notizia che la Tucker sia in possesso di un acetato della registrazione e, comunque, è indubbio che la registrazione sia quella del collezionista Warren Hill. Questa fu la prima registrazione (eseguita da Norman Dolph) dell'album prima che fosse in parte reinciso e in parte remissato, e contiene versioni diverse di tutte le canzoni. Una vera rarità anche le versioni alternative del terzo album, provenienti da un acetato trovato in casa di Sterling Morrison dopo la sua morte. Le prime 100 copie sono poi state accompanate da un bonus DVDR numerato a mano contenente la registrazione del concerto del Bataclan '72 alla TV Pop2. |
