Last night I said goodbye to my friend
last night I said goodbye to my friend
Last night I saw his face and cried
last night I wiped the tears from my eyes

        I sat with my friend
I kissed his cheek and held his hand
Last night I said goodbye to my friend

Last night I said goodbye to my friend
last night I said goodbye to my friend
Last night I saw his face and cried
last night I wiped the tears from my eyes

        I sat with my friend
        and I held his hand
Last night I said goodbye to my friend

Always miss you and that's the truth
we've been friends so long and I love you
I can't believe this happened, it can't be real
I don't know what to do or say or feel

Last night I said goodbye to my friend

As the mighty have fallen, all the idols fall
you were always saying you were ten feet tall
You know it's not for real
I don't know what to do or say or feel

Last night I said goodbye to my friend
Last night I said goodbye to my friend
Last night I said goodbye to my friend
Last night I said goodbye to my friend

I took a look at "Last Night I Said Goodbye to My Friend"
at your site and found a few mistakes.
I've listened to the recording,
and here's what I think are the correct lyrics
(with the corrected lines in bold):

Last night I said goodbye to my friend
last night I said goodbye to my friend
Last night I saw his face and cried
last night I wiped the tears from my eyes

  I said goodbye my friend
I kissed his cheek and held his hand
Last night I said goodbye to my friend

Last night I said goodbye to my friend
last night I said goodbye to my friend
Last night I saw his face and cried
last night I wiped the tears from my eyes

*** I sat with my friend ***
  and I held his hand
Last night I said goodbye to my friend

*** Always miss you, and that's the truth ***
we've been friends so long and I love you
*** I can't believe this happened, it can't be real ***
I don't know what to do or say or feel

Last night I said goodbye to my friend

*** As the mighty have fallen, all the idols fall ***
*** you were always saying you were ten feet tall ***
*** You know it's not for real ***
I don't know what to do or say or feel

Last night I said goodbye to my friend
Last night I said goodbye to my friend
Last night I said goodbye to my friend
Last night I said goodbye to my friend

On the subject of who has written the song,
Lou states at the beginning of the recording
that "This is a song the three of us wrote",
so I guess
that means it's a Lou Reed/John Cale/Moe Tucker composition.
