Samuel Shepard Rogers, meglio noto come Sam Shepard (Fort Sheridan, 5 novembre 1943 – Midway, 27 luglio 2017), è un attore, commediografo e scrittore statunitense considerato dai critici il vero erede del grande teatro statunitense. Drammaturgo prolifico, molti dei suoi lavori sono noti per essere espliciti e spesso assurdi, e per avere un autentico stile e sensibilità del coraggioso e moderno “American West”. Shepard è inoltre un apprezzato attore teatrale e cinematografico.
2. Martin Scorsese (New York, 17 novembre 1942) è un regista, attore, sceneggiatore, produttore cinematografico e storico del cinema statunitense, di origini Italiane. Esponente della New Hollywood, è considerato uno dei maggiori e più importanti registi della storia del cinema. Temi centrali dei suoi film sono la colpa, il peccato e la religione. Il suo stile, spesso caratterizzato da sequenze virtuosistiche e violenza iperrealista, trae ispirazione dalla Nouvelle Vague francese, dal Neorealismo italiano e dal cinema indipendente di John Cassavetes. Ispirato dall’autobiografia del pugile Jake LaMotta, Raging Bull: My Story, adattata da Paul Schrader e Mardik Martin, il film fu quasi interamente girato in bianco e nero. De Niro interpreta il ruolo del pugile peso medio Jake LaMotta, dal carattere brusco e paranoico, che, cresciuto nel Bronx, si allena tenacemente per raggiungere i vertici della boxe, per poi subire una vera caduta, accompagnata da notevoli problemi con la famiglia e gli amici.
